literature by promoting diverse authors and stories in Brampton,
Ontario – one of Canada’s most culturally diverse cities.

Where: Brampton, Ontario, Canada

Panel: "I Write"

What happens when writers sit down to write? Do the ideas unravel and multiply?

Or is it a process of discovery? How does a writer take an idea and transform it into

a story readers can’t put down? Authors M-E Girard, Gary Barwin, and

Sarah Raughley discuss their latest works, reflecting on writing challenges and

offering ways to overcome the trials and pitfalls of writing.

Location: Central Public School (Auditorium)

Date: May 4, 2017

Time: 9:30 am - 10:45 am

Want to book me for something?

I love meeting readers, educators, and other writers. I am always thrilled to set up events and appearances, and would love to get your invite!

What you need to know:

  • I am available for author visits, to facilitate workshops, to perform readings, to give lectures, and for event appearances.
  • I offer free virtual author visits via Skype! More information to come (do email me if interested).
  • I've facilitated workshops on a variety of topics (short story writing, the writing life, agent querying process, writing fiction, writing YA literature, writing for or about queer people), for a variety of individuals (children and teens, writers of all stages, queer and non-queer people).
  • I am fluent in English and French, so I can speak and facilitate workshops in either language.
  • My style is informal and conversational, and I use a lot of humor. I'm comfortable in front of a small group, or a large one.
  • You can find my speaker profile in the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) speaker bureau.
